A Triple C session

Downstairs

Artists come down to our basement, play a cover of a song they love and one of their own, and tell us why they chose each.

How it works

Two songs and the story behind them

1

A cover

A song by someone else that means something to you. Play it your way.

2

One of yours

A song of your own that you want people to hear.

3

The why

We talk about both: why you chose them, what they mean to you, and what shaped you as an artist.

Hearing an artist talk about a song they love is what makes me love music.

Andrew McGrathFounder, Triple C

When someone tells me about a song that matters to them, I feel like I know them a little. Sometimes I learn something about myself, or hear a song I thought I knew in a completely new way.

It makes me care about the artist as a person. Then I want to hear everything they've made, and learn where they come from, their culture and what influenced them.

That's what Downstairs is about, and it's why I want to bring it to Canada, and to you.

On Triple C

Monthly to start, weekly as we grow

Each session becomes part of Triple C's programming. We're starting with one a month, and we hope to make it weekly as the station grows.

Apply to play

Come play Downstairs

Tell us who you are, the cover you'd play, and the song of yours you'd bring.

  • It's a basement, so smaller setups work best: solo, duo, or a stripped-back band.
  • Same terms as sending us your music, under the Triple C artist licence.
  • If we pick you, we'll get in touch to plan the session.
